Citizen of a Kind is a Korean movie with the original title 시민덕희 (Shimindeokhee) or Citizen Deok-Hee. Released on January 24, 2024, the film was produced by director Park Young Joo with an action-comedy genre. After losing her laundry shop to a fire, single mom Deok-hee receives a call from a bank offering her a large down payment loan, so she immediately agrees. But soon after, she learns that she has fallen victim to a sound phishing scheme.
Deok-Hee (Ra Mi-Ran) is an ordinary citizen. She fell victim to a voice phishing scam. She lost tens of thousands of dollars in one moment. With the help of Jae-Min (Gong Myung), Bong-Rim (Yum Hye-Ran) and Sook-Ja (Jang Yoon-Ju), Deok-Hee pursues the phishing group. Jae-Min is a member of the voice phishing group and Deok-Hee's confidential informant. Bong-Rim is Deok-Hee's friend and coworker. Sook-Ja shares Deok-Hee's enthusiasm to catch the voice phishing group.
Devastated, Deok-Heee asks the police for help, but she is further disappointed that there is no hope of getting her money back. In a moment of desperation, Jae-min, the scammer, calls her phone once again to tell Duk-hee about the criminal organization that locked her up in prison and forced her to make voice phishing calls from China. With the call, Duk-hee decides to investigate the case herself and boards a plane to China with her friends.
