Freelance synopsis tells the story of a retired special forces soldier who takes a job to escort a part-time journalist (Alison Brie) while interviewing a dictator. The dictator is a President named Venegas who has a reputation for ruthlessness. In the middle of the interview, they are attacked by the military who want to stage a coup against the dictator. Therefore, they were forced to flee and survive into the forest. On the other hand, Mason Pettis (John Cena) is a former special forces member who is given the task of protecting and keeping Claire safe. Despite dealing with relentless, life-threatening attacks, the trio's actions also provoke laughter.
In the midst of the coup, Claire continues to carry out her duties as a journalist. Plus Mason must double up to protect President Venegas who is also on the run.
Mason's presence as Claire's bodyguard is not only aimed at protecting the famous journalist. On the other hand, there are other goals that are stacked as secrets by his best friend and boss (Christian Slater).
